This month I had a realization that I really like this renting thing. I ended up renting some items for my trip and I also went in with a clearer idea of what I want to wear this month. Tops, the Collette pants, trip clothes were my top priorities and I succeeded in my order this month. In fact, as I was packing my nuuly box up today I was excited to get the next one going. This month turned things around for me with nuuly! It’s becoming quite fun and I highly recommend for a trip or an event. It’s nice to have something you like but don’t necessarily want to keep forever and ever.

If you are new here, I wanted to try out a clothing rental service and I choose Nuuly. I wanted to give it an honest shot and so far I’m on my 3rd month. Nuuly charges $98 once a month and you get to choose 6 items to wear all month long then you send the pieces back. You can check out the Nuuly website here.

Each month I calculate the cost per wear for each pieces in my nuuly box. Here are the numbers: each box is $98 for 6 pieces. (For consistency, I’m leaving out taxes here since it will differ for each state.) So if you take the $98 divided by the 6 items, it’s about $16.33 per item, if you wear each item one time. Every item’s cost of $16.33 will be divided by the frequency of wear. (i.e. Cost of item rental ÷ times piece was worn = rental price per wear). Just to go a step too far, I’ve also broken down each piece with a rating system and a review for each item below.

MY RATING SYSTEM:

⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ = would consider buying full price / will miss it when it’s gone!
⭑⭑⭑⭑ = really liked it, would prefer to buy on sale
⭑⭑⭑ = on the fence, liked it but can’t see myself wearing that often / buy on sale only
⭑⭑ = liked but didn’t wear it at all or found it hard to style
⭑ = didn’t like it / didn’t fit

So let’s get to the 6 items below — the good, the bad, the borrowed:

MAEVE COLLETTE PANTS | ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 4
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $4.08

Okay so as it turns out, I’m a huge fan of the Collette Pant from Anthropologie. I always liked them in some capacity but I actually love them. They’re so comfortable and flattering and on top of that just fun to wear. And to add another layer, I’m a huge fan of RENTING different versions of the pants. I’ve realized that is the fun of this all. I love the silhouette of the pants and there are like 50 different versions of them at one time at Anthro and with renting them I can try them and not commit. I love this color and actually wore these a lot. I kind of felt bad for them. But I’m cool with returning them, as I get tired of color quickly. And so on to the next color or print or version of them.

I am in the 29 of the Collette and for me a spot on fit. You can find them at Anthropologie here. This is Victorian Blue and is sold out now but there are 12 other colors! I really like this fabric, it’s a structured linen with stretch but lightweight for spring.

Varley Sweater Vest | ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 3
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $5.44

This is one of those pieces that I’m actually thinking about keeping! I love this sweater vest from Varley. It’s lightweight and super versatile, too. I found myself reaching for this piece with these pants specifically and then a pair of faded black denim shorts, too. The fit is spot on — I’m in the medium and it’s a tailored TTS. What do you think? Is it a keep?

(PS: LOVE these Quince linen pants. This is after a wash and air dry too. They took me a second to steam out but they’re perfect, fit the same as before I washed them.)

FARM RIO WIDE LEG PANTS | ⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 1
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $16.33

Last week I tagged along on my husband’s business trip with one goal in mind: sit by the pool. I did just this and I had these pants in mind as a pool look / cover up outfit. (You can see that outfit here!) I loved them for that purpose — they are a nice linen pant and just adorable for summer. My only thing with them is I just felt kind of ‘wide’ in them. They’re a wide cut from the hip, so I felt kind of boxy in them. But that’s just a fit preference for me. I am in the medium, they run TTS, most fitted at the hips / waist.

Pistola Striped Sweater | ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 3
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $5.44

Okay loved this one, but back it goes because we are moving into spring and I just don’t think I’ll have any more cool days to wear this one. It’s such a cute fit, slightly cropped and boxy but it works. I wore the medium, fit is perfect. Also how perfect is this matching to the Colette Pants?! I may have planned that but I can’t remember.

I can’t find this blue hue anywhere online but I found it in black here and a similar look from Quince!

By Anthro Puff Sleeve Top | ⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 2
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $8.17

I really liked this top but overall the fit was the deciding factor for me. I think a small would have been a better fit for me, as the shoulders were just touch wide for me. It’s a gorgeous top, not sheer but it definitely leans towards running big in the shoulders! I felt it slip off a bit throughout the days when I wore it. Overall it’s a gorgeous top, but the fit is a bit tricky. I’m in the medium, fit is most wide at the shoulders.

Cost Per Wear: $16.33

This one was a meh for me. I ended up taking it on my trip to wear in the airport but it ended up just being in my bag most of the time. (Our airplane was oddly warm, which is very unusual! I’m usually freezing in an airport / airplane.) This jacket was too big overall — I got the medium but it was very oversized fitted. I thought that the ties on the wrist looked cool but in person they just felt big and in the way. On a positive not, it’s a really well constructed jacket, fully lined but I didn’t like how the lining felt. I like the style and the look of it as well, but a small would have fit better. This one was a pass for me, which makes me wonder if jackets are my thing? I’m thinking I may pass on renting jackets for the next few months, especially with the temps going straight up.

If you like this jacket, go down a size in my opinion!

Overall this box was one of my most used and favorites so far! I wouldn’t say they were the most exciting pieces but I really enjoyed this box, if I do say so myself. I’m going to keep this in mind for next month — keep it easy. You can read my other Nuuly reviews here (January) and here (February)!
