My Sunday try ons are back on Instagram each week and I’m working to share them here each Monday as well! Last week I popped into a Nordstrom to see what I could find and I found some great transitional pieces for spring! See my finds below:
I’ve been obsessed with this jacket for a while and so when I saw it in store, I knew I had to try it on. This is the medium, it runs very looser / boxy. I almost thought about sizing down but I didn’t. I stuck with the medium. If you haven’t tried this jacket before, it’s a quilted cotton, very soft inside and out. It’s a nice layer for spring and is just a super comfy jacket!
As you can see it’s a boxier fit, but I think it’ll relax with wear. I’m in the medium, could have sized down but didn’t. If you are in between sizes, definitely size down!

However, I LOVED this denim top. I knew I would. I’ve had my eye on it and I just love it. I think it would look so good with dark denim wide leg or flares as well or white jeans! The possibilities are endless.
I am in the size 10. It is still very fitted on me at the bust / arms but it fits perfectly. There is a little flare out at the hem and the length is perfect. I tried the size 8 and it was too tight / too short. I would say if you have boobs, go up one!
Okay so I loved these pants in theory. But for my body type, it just wasn’t a go. They are a thicker denim with stretch but overall a very strucutred denim. The waist is elastic, with a zipper and hook and with a tie belt that’s more decor than belt. Overall they fit very loose / very big. I am in the medium here and they’re loose and I could tell they would stretch with wear.
I love this look for spring but for me this pair needs a slender build / small waist. Since it’s more of a paperbag waist, they just didn’t sit right on me. I looked quite square / unflattering. So I believe in these pants, but they are just meant for a different body type than my own. I was so sad to put them back because they were exactly what I was looking for, they just weren’t meant for me.
TL:DR: size down, generous fit, no waist definition.
Loved this dress. It feels like the old Madewell that we all know and love. There is a lot of fabric, nice quality and weight of the fabric. And for the record IS super twirly. The middle section is stretchy as is the neckline. I did have to size down to a size 6 (typically I’m an 8) and it fit way better. I would suggest a size down.
This is what I mean by a stretchy neckline — you can pull it down on your shoulders as well! How very 2016 of me.
LOVED this top and this combination. I’ve been looking for a denim shirt that is almost jacket like and this is the one! I am in the medium, fit is tailored with a relaxed vibe. I like that it’s not western, as well. I find some denim shirts can go western real fast and I am just not about that aesthetic.
You can easily wear this as a lightweight jacket as well. Shop the top here.
Let’s talk these jeans! This is a pair of Mother Denim and I loved the fit. I am in the size 30, fit is TTS for Mother. I’m usually between a 29-31 with Mother, depending on the rinse, style, fabric. This pair is stretchy and honestly perfect. I ended up switching them out last minute with another pair I’ll link in LTK (but forgot to take a pic of! doh!)
I loved the fit / stretchiness of these but ultimately I decided the double pockets wouldn’t be the most versatile.
I LOVED this dress from Farm Rio. It’s gorgeous and I have a trip coming up that this would work perfect for! It’s a bit confusing at first because the necklines are the same front / back and the zipper is in the front but once I figured it out, I loved it. You can unzip the front to where you want the neckline to start / stop. It’s a hidden zipper too so you could do a full high neckline option without it looking weird.
The fabric is lightweight, crepe without stretch. I am in the large here, wasn’t able to try the medium but I suspect the medium would fit best. This one was slightly tighter at the arms but overall it was a TTS fit. If in between sizes, go up one.
Okay so I loved the color of these pants but…they just weren’t the right size. This brand is Faherty and I KNEW I needed the 30 but they only had the 29s. (I’m always a large in Faherty.) These poor pants lasted about 30 seconds on me before I thought I was going to permanently damage that poor zipper that was hanging on for dear life.
Overall they’re stretchy, thicker denim and the color is amazing. But for a rounder waist size up!

I bought this whole outfit! The second I put it on I was like damn I wish I was wearing this today. I loved the sweater — mid-weight, perfect for spring. It is more fitted but not tight, true to size. I’m in the medium here.
Let’s talk about this pair of barrel jeans! I think that they’ve updated the fit of the from last spring / summer. These have less stretch to them / more structure and are a heavier weight denim. Which is nice because it holds the ‘barrel’ shape better. I really like this pair (bought them). I am in the 29, fit is perfect for me with a bit of wiggle room. If in between sizes, I think you could size down one.

Another Free People find — everything from them is so good rn! I love the hue of this top — a light sage green that feels pastel without feeling too sweet. I am in the medium, fit is TTS with a more cropped length. It is lightweight, just almost sheer so it will be nice for the warmer days. Overall it fits loose, TTS but for length stay TTS.
This dress is gorgeous and really well made. It has a side zipper and the skirt is slightly tiered towards the bottom hem. The midsection is fitted and the top is blousy. For me however, I am in the large and I felt like ti was a little long on me and the top part was TOO blousy. The midsection fit me, so I figured the medium would be too small in the midsection but fit everywhere else, so I passed.
But if you have a smaller waist / bigger boobs — this is your dress!
