I am writing this while actually dressed up, so this title feels like a lie. But after today’s super important event (I have a winter school performance to attend after all) then it’s casual until January…7th. I will be giving myself the full school break to be a sweat pants queen. Also we are moving during the break — did I mention that yet? I have on stories but maybe not here. We bought a house in a brand new city (still DFW though!) and will be moving right after Christmas. If you’re thinking we move a lot, I think it’s just this year. (We sold back in January and have been renting until we found a house we loved!) We moved right before Christmas back in 2021 to the house with the pretty green kitchen and I always swore I’d never do that again. I mean technically I’m moving after Christmas so I guess part of my promise to myself was kept.

So anyways our house is in S H A M B L E S but in a fun way. Like shambles but with Christmas lights. Shambles but celebrated! My closet is also in shambles, more so than usual. I have a big goal for 2024 — wait no — 2025 to get my closet fully organized. And that means no hidden piles anywhere, like fully organized and cataloged. I’m going full Kondo in the new year. Expect more listings on the pre-loved shop.

This set is from Evereve but the brand is Varley. I love Varley because they feel like one of those brands that hasn’t cheapened their quality yet. Sometimes — not always — but sometimes I feel like when brands get popular, they lower the quality to increase the quantity. But not Varley, Lord these pieces will be around forever. And they wash out beautifully. That’s important for me. Now I do wash on gentle and hang most of my nicer pieces (including workout leggings!) but if you do this, Varley pieces will look brand new forever no lie. I had (and sold bc it wasn’t the right size) the Vine Pullover (also a fave) and it looked brand spanking new when I sold it. This top is very similar to the Vine Pullover but without the collar, which I may prefer. I am moody when it comes to collars, but with a crewneck? Any day, any time. This top runs very generous, which I wish I would have known before I ordered. This is the large, should have got the medium. Learn through my mistakes, my friends. Find this top here.

But the real shining light of this outfit are the pants. I like to call these my going out sweatpants because they look fancy. This pair of wide leg sweat pants are just sweat pants — I mean they are but they’re deluxe. They have a seam going down the middle which makes them a notch above the rest, they’re wide leg so you’re *on trend* and they fabric is smooth, no piling. They are the sweatpants to end all sweatpants. I’m in the large and I do like the extra wiggle room, but overall TTS. Find them here!

I am in the large of each piece. The top runs BIG so don’t size up. I like the bigger size of the sweatpants for extra coziness.

Monthly Capsule Wardrobe

Each month I create monthly capsules out of my favorite pieces, perfectly curated for each month.
