It has taken me a few seasons to get behind the completely oversized look. I can’t tell if this is the millennial in me – built by skinny jeans, fueled by skinny leggings. OR if this is body shaming trauma from the 90s / 00s where *looking* skinny was the only way to be. Either way, it has been a hard sell for me to completely wear an outfit that is head to toe oversized. My formula in the past has always been oversized top = skinny jeans or wide leg jeans = tighter top. But the current style just isn’t leaning towards those silhouettes of our past and so with some therapy (retail) and time, I’ve finally arrived at the intersection between inner peace and oversized everything.

This sweater is loose and cozy which is perfect for Thanksgiving by the way. Since we are in November, I feel like it’s high time we start talking holiday outfits next. Back to the outfit though — my instinct is to go with a skinny jean but those are almost obsolete in my closet now. So I went with my next favorite option — the wide leg and honestly? Chic. I actually love this look with the heel of the boots as well, it gives the outfit just the right amount of height so that the ratio of the outfit is perfectly oversized. And you know what else? This outfit is damn comfortable. Maybe this oversized everything trend isn’t so bad after all.

This pair of denim is Paige via Evereve. I am in the 30, true to size fit for Paige! Find them here.

What about you? Are you giving the oversized trend a try? And remember: if we try all of these trends now and they turn out to be mistakes, we can look back in a few years and laugh at ourselves haughtily and feel validated by how far our style has come.
