I have been ever so slightly ignoring this trend for a while. Vests and big ol’ boobs are not exactly an iconic pair. Well…okay I mean I guess it depends on who you are asking that question to — but if you are asking me, someone who does not like to her BOBs out there a lot, this trend is just a hard one. For one, the fit seems sus. Trying to get a tight button down to fit is hard enough, why would I try something even smaller and even tighter? I couldn’t answer this question without giving a vest a try, and so I found this one from Reformation and gave it a shot. And…and? I like it. I really do.

Now is this the best vest for my body type? Probs not. It needs to be a bit bigger overall and the crop in the middle is tough. Reformation really does the most to take basic pieces and make them trendy, I know this, you know this. But do I like it anyways? Why yes, yes I do. Turns out I really like this trend, even with my BOBs in the way. I like the play on menswear and I like any option that works well with denim. Now I paired this with my high-waisted (almost skinny let’s be honest) straight leg jean and it’s just a damn good ‘fit. I felt great in this outfit, even with a little midsection showing. Now if I felt like meh, I want less skin I would just place a black camisole underneath the vest or wear.

I think that this is going to be a big trend this fall so I rounded up some of the best ones from around the webs! From Target to J.Crew, Gap to Nordstrom, I’ve got you covered for any budget. This one from Nordstrom is the closest to the Ref one without the midsection cut out that’s under $100. As it turns out, I’m invested in vests this fall.

Invested…Get it? I knew you would. 😉 Just click on that little arrow to browse through more vest options!

  1. This blog is so insightful! The way you’ve presented the information is clear and engaging. I appreciate the depth of detail and practical advice offered here. I will surely share it with my friend. Keep up the great work!

  2. Ohhhh- thank you for trying out this trend. I have a vest stashed away for fall and am unsure of how to make it work. My constraints are similar to yours (bobs). Have you tried it or seen it work with something underneath or does that defeat the point? Not sure if im ready to try it my yet 🙂

    1. I dont think it would defeat the point at all! Next time I wear this vest I will put my black camisole underneath, it’s a lower cut one so it will just hide the tummy portion.

  3. Hi Kendi

I love your game of women’s fashion and I love all the options that go well with your collections. And I don’t think I’m fooling myself when I find in you the elegance and sculptures of the top models (with the same size and shape of breasts as yours) who paraded on the pages of fashion magazines and who made me dream from a young age.
Here, your allure evokes that of the most beautiful and hottest american Cowgirls in Western films like “The Mirror Has Two Faces” or “Once Upon a Time in the West”… This also brings back sweet childhood souvenirs.
As for the little belly that seen under your vest, it’s really the icing on the cake.
    Am I right?

  4. i mean this with all the respect in the world, but you look hot!!!!

and so do your bobs. (said like bob as in cratchitt.)

  5. Hi!
I think the vest trend is cool but im SKEPTICAL if it carries through with long sleeves underneath for cooler weather? Thoughts?

    1. Okay Okay I hear you…it’s giving me throwback vibes to when I was a waitress at a steakhouse and I’m trying to fight it lol. I DO think it would be cute with a thinner turtleneck bodysuit, or a tailored one at least especially in the same hue or a darker hue. I feel like this is a an outfit I could try out and see if it works and report back!
