I wandered into Old Navy the other day and boy was I excited to find some things. A pleated mini skirt for pickleball (and beyond), a really nice pair of loose fitting jeans and a very surprising chambray. All of these pieces are on sale through today, so I wanted to share them with you before the sale ends. (See the sale here, if you’re interested!)

You’re going to see a theme in this try on — it’s ‘oversized’ and loose. And I am a-okay with this. I’ve fought the oversized trend for a while but I’ve given up the fight. If the fit is right, I’ve realized an oversized piece can be chic and comfortable; who am I to argue with that?

Below are 8 items that I’d suggest as we go into fall. Below each are a quick review and fit information to help you shop.

OG Loose Jeans

Okay love, love this pair of jeans. My love for looser, straight leg or wide leg jeans has shifted over the past year. I am loving this look, even if it took me a while to get here. I find that if it cuts me right below my ankle / top of my foot, it’s the most versatile length for shoes and outfits. This is the OG Loose pair and I can’t recommend enough. Soft denim, slight stretch but not lightweight. Feels like a nice quality denim. I’m in the 10, generous fit but I’d say TTs for the “loose” fit of it all.

If I had to recommend one piece from the try on, it would be this pair of jeans. You’re hitting all the trends for fall and the fit and quality is there.

On sale for under $30 through today!

Oversized Denim Shirt

Really nice, thick chambray here. Almost more of like a shacket feel because the fabric is mid-weight than lightweight. I am in the medium and it’s very oversized. Size down if you like a closer fit. True to size for an oversized look.

Not on sale, but it is under $50! Find it here.

Oversized Sweatshirt

I will say that Old Navy and Target’s (JoyLab line) are my two favorite places for oversized sweatshirts. ON is my favorite for a thicker fabric, more casual look. This one is no exception and I love the variety green. I got the large even though it’s oversized. Love the fit, love that it’s fleece inside but kinda lightweight still. This one comes in a myriad of colors, so if green isn’t hitting for you, there’s a ton to choose from! I would say size up if you want a nice cozy oversized fit with a tunic length. If not, stick TTS!

On sale for $25!

Micro-Pleated Mini Skort

Okay I’ve been getting into pickle ball lately and so of course I’m going to need some skirts. There really is something about the sport that just makes you want to wear a little sporty skirt. I thought I’d give this one a shot and LET ME TELL YOU: this one is a winner!! Go off, Old Navy! Like this is a nice skirt – the pleats are nice and perfectly done, the fabric is heavy enough that they’ll stay pleated as well. There is a pair of biker shorts underneath as well. I am in the medium, fit is more fitted for me but the large would be too big. If in between sizes, go down a size I think. Medium fits me well, just a bit more fitted at the waist.

Under $20! A find!

OG High Waist Chinos

Imma be honest — I did not have high hopes for these trousers. When I pulled them out of the bag, I realized their a chino fabric (hence the product name CHINO, Kendi) but when I put the on — um what?? This actually fit so so well. And I actually like the chino fabric and fit. And we all know I can’t find a good fitting trouser to save my life. Now I wish they were about an inch longer but I could swap for a tall size. We shall see. I am in the large and this fit is a bit generous, so if you’re in between sizes you can go down one size. Overall super cute fit and very comfortable. Highly recommend — on sale for $25!

Really love this tank top. It’s “cropped” ish. I could still tuck it into the high waisted pants but for regular waist pants it would hit at the top of the waist band. It comes in a few colors as well, I like this faded navy blue though. It’s a nice swap for my typically white tank. I’m in the large and I like this size / fit! Oh and I’m wearing my normal bra, my strap kind of shows a little but I think it’ll work.

This tank is $10! A really nice essential and layering piece. Find it here.

Striped Mariner Tee

Love this top — nice mid-weight fabric, 100% cotton. It’s a nice weight and has a nice feel to it. Definitely fits more boxy, but I like the fit. Slightly more drapey in the arms which gives a casual fit. I would say it runs TTS, I’m in the large so it’s a bit oversized on me.

Comes in a few colors of stripes too! Not on sale but $25! Find it here.

Wide Leg Front Pocket Jeans

Another pair of denim I’d recommend! Now this pair looks similar to a pair from last year but the fabric is way different. This fabric is a mid-weight, non stretch denim. I do think they’ll “stretch” with wear though, especially in the waist / hips. Overall TTS fit but this pair is most fitted at the waist and hips. I am in the 10 regular length.

The only thing I don’t *love* about this pair is the button. It’s a pants button not a denim one. It’s a plastic tortoise shell button, instead of metal. Kind of an odd choice IMO. I can’t tell if it changes it for me, but it might for you. (Not on sale just FYI)

  1. Hi Kendi,

I have my eye on you 🙂. But, as I am not a woman, I don’t really understand what nuance between the pleated skirt, very well to me, and the seat pleats of your pants which whisper to you?
