Remember my September mood board and the color code? Well I took my own prescription and mixed two of the suggested monthly hues together and guess what? They absolutely work. A bright, orangey red and a chocolate brown actually works very very well together. I love when theory works well in real life.
This outfit is compliments from J.Crew (I’m working with them on a instagram post this month, but this post here isn’t sponsored so my thoughts are all my own.) In fact if I’m ever gifted anything that I don’t like, I simply don’t suggest it here. I only share what I love. And what I love are these two pieces, both together and separate. I’m interested in seeing how else I can style these trousers. I’m obviously missing my capsules lately because these trousers would soar in a capsule. Same with this sweater top (they call it a cashmere t-shirt, I call it a short sleeve sweater.) as the color is surprisingly so versatile. I actually did a color way like this in my October 2021 capsule if you want some more ideas with these colors together. My brain is spinning with possibilities for these two pieces separately, so I’m excited to see where that takes me this month and beyond.
If you would have told me a few years ago that I’d actually enjoy wearing flare cords, I would have scoffed in your face. And maybe this is just a really great example of a flare trouser in corduroy fabric, but these fit like a daydream. They’re the right weight, not too thin or too thick, they have a hint of stretch and there is just a small hint of 70s to the flare. I love that they look vintage in that way. I am in the 30 and they are running just a bit big on me, so I think that they are TTS with a more generous fit. (I am in the regular length as well.) Side note — they say wide leg, I say flare.
Find them from J.Crew in many colors here!
This little sweater — okay okay brushed cashmere t-shirt — is even more gorgeous in person. The cashmere is so soft and I loved a fuzzy moment for a sweater. It brings about the 90s in the best way. I am in the large and this fit is perfect for me. Slightly looser, relaxed fit and not to tight anywhere. I would say if you are in between sizes and would prefer wiggle room, size up one. But otherwise stay TTS for a more tailored fit. Comes in a gorgeous golden beige and a classic black, as well!
