I know you guys are going to disagree with this next statement and that is just fine: I want this dress to be shorter. By about an inch. I know, I know — I can HEAR your eye rolls and loose sighs from you. But I am giggling because it’s true — I just want a little bit more leg. It’s not a secret that I love a shorter length, perhaps even on the verge of inappropriate for work some would say, but luckily my boss is cool with the dress code (it me, I’m the boss). I can say that this dress IS an appropriate length for work and how do I know that besides these photos staring at me ? Oh because it just *feels* too long for me. When I get that feeling AND I can sit comfortably in a chair without the fear of flashing someone, I know HR would be proud or rather, unbothered and therefore it’s most likely an appropriate length.

So my 9-to-5 ladies, give me your thoughts? It’s been about a decade since I’ve been in an office. Is this an appropriate length for your office or would I be reported?

All that being said, I really like the mini version of this dress. Maxi dresses definitely have a place in my heart, but I’ll always love a shorter length. When this Sommerset dress first came out a few years ago it was only in the maxi and that feels SO dressy to me. But then Anthro decided to remake it in like 30 different variations and they included this shorter version.  I’m actually glad that Anthro takes a style and runs with it — now there is a whole Sommerset collection!

I am like the size large in this style dress across the board — it gives me a bit more room in the arms and definitely in the bust. I am in the large of this dress here. Fits like a dream. I love how it comes in on the natural waist, too and you know what? The length on this dress is pretty perfect. It was comfortable to wear and I didn’t once think about if I was going to flash someone. Wait a minute — am I coming around to longer lengths? Is this maturity? Is this…growth? Only time will tell, friends.
