I always know that I love something when I want to wear it every single day. (My black leggings are absolutely blushing ring now.) But these jeans are IT for me this week. Even in the heat, I am reaching for this airy pair of denim. Another shocker for me is that this is a ‘low rise’ pair of denim. Honestly when I swore them off in 2002, I never looked back. Low rise denim has notoriously done us apple shapes dirty and when we started having other rises later in the 2010s, I never felt so seen. High rise denim is an apple’s dream. That sentence out of context of this paragraph is wild. I will always love our skinny jean with a high rise era — it is my best and favorite silhouette. But I’ve made peace with the fact that we are moving on, we are trending, we are evolving our denim and I can get on board. Especially when they fit like this. Loose, but flattering — forever a yes from me.

Now I said ‘low rise’ in quotations for a reason. The rise is 8.5″ and most high rise starts at 9″ to 10″. I think at one point Madewell went above and beyond and did an 11″ rise but that could just be a fever dream. So I would say this is lower rise…not quite low rise of our youth. Thank God. Abercrombie got the trauma memo it seems. So for me, this fits just fine even with a rounder waist because the waist does not taper in at all — the jeans are a rectangle basically. No shape really which I love that because I’ve got plenty of shape to give these jeans their own silhouette. So that’s the scoop on the low rise.
I am in the 30 LONG. I typically never get long or tall in denim but I’ve discovered in Abercrombie I am a long length across their denim. I am the same size in denim at AF as I am at Madewell, just FYI. Abercrombie is a bit all over the place in sizing for me, but the denim I am a 30.
