My Favorite Things I’ve Bought All Spring

Alright the blog gods (you) have spoken: selfie content it is until I can figure something out. I’m back, baby. This blog post actually a three part-er: 1) this jacket I’m obsessed with 2) these linen shorts that run so generously it’s giving me an endorphin boost and 3) this tee I didn’t realize I could wear as a casual top. I’ll explain in part three of course.

The Jacket

Okay so what you are looking at here is my very favorite outfit lately. It’s my obsession, I wear it at least once a week and then if I’m not wearing this exact outfit I’m selling it for parts, wearing each piece separately. This jacket is hands down my most favorite purchase I’ve made in YEARS. YEARS! That sounds like one of those influencer exaggerations but it isn’t and here is how you can tell: I said it about me. If I wanted YOU to buy it, then I would say YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS RIGHT NOW USE MY CODE. But no, listen to me as much as I love you, this is not about you. This right now is about me. This jacket is one of those purchases that I know I bought for life. I have had multiple iterations of a cargo jacket during my time on earth and this blessed internet but there was one in particular that I did not hold on to. It was from 2018 and I wore it to the Rep Tour and I have no idea where it went. Did I give it away? Did I lose it? Did someone steal it? Who knows where it went but ever since then  I have looked for this type of jacket and I finally found it at J.Crew. Now she pricey and I did get her on a 30% promo a few weeks back. WELL WORTH IT. I would buy two — in fact should I? Just in case? No no no…no?

This jacket is a thicker canvas but not stiff and that’s what I love — I love the swing of it. It fits really oversized and slightly boxy in the best way. I am in the medium (and I’m typically a large in most things right now) so I can say with certainty it runs big. I have been tossing it on with EVERYTHING. The other iteration of this outfit is to swap out the linen shorts with yoga leggings. Perfect for soccer practice or a game. I am obsessed with this loose fit jacket and when it gets too hot for me to even say the word jacket, I will be so so sad. Long live April.

The Shorts

Okay I also bought these linen shorts on a whim and they too are oversized. I am in the medium and they fit perfectly. So definitely size down. Now I AM telling you to get these. If you like a loose short with a pull on (me! I do!) for summer — it’s this pair. I had a pair like this from H&M last year but they were laughable compared to these. These are non-sheer, soft and so wearable. I am afraid to wash them bc I love how they fit rn but I think they’ll hold up just fine in the delicates. I personally will be getting them in the linen hue too and maybe the green. I am nothing if not a sucker for elastic waist shorts.

The Tee

Okay so if you are like what’s up with this tee story, here goes. This is a Lululemon top that I bought to work out in. But admittedly it’s a little weird to wear to the gym so I rarely wear it. It’s got a high boatneck style and the sleeves come down a little lower on the arms than I prefer and the length is not my favorite length for the gym. So one day I was wearing this tee at said gym and a friend said to me ‘oh I have that shirt from Lulu! I wear it all the time, it’s my favorite everyday shirt.’ And I was like you wear it outside the gym? And she looked at me like I was stupid. Because I was in that moment. A moment of stupidity, followed by a lifetime of clarity: just because it’s marketed as gym wear doesn’t mean it has to be worn there. Like duh, I know but ever since then this top has received so many more wears because I don’t mind it in an everyday outfit, but I hate it at the gym. And their stuff washes out beautifully (I hang to dry everything and it lasts so much longer) and I can sweat in it. So labels be damned, a white tee is a white tee. And that my friends, is growth.
