The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is upon us! Monday is the day to starting shopping… that is *IF* you are an Icon Level Cardholder. If not, you’ve got to wait a few more days. But the good news is, I’m going in today to check everything out and you KNOW I’ll repot back in full. They allow you to shop by level of cardholder you are and the entire sale goes live on July 28th. (I’ve put the shopping dates below!) If you’re not a Nordstrom Cardholder then you can create a wishlist with the items you like because everything is live and check the sale out EARLY on the 28th! I’ll keep a steady flow of Nordstrom Sale posts throughout this month so you don’t miss any stock updates, etc. I’ll also have other content besides Nordstrom Sale, too. I am nothing but an equal opportunity shopper.

Not to brag, but I’ve been shopping this sale for 7 years now and over those past 7 years, I’ve gathered some pretty good tips  from myself on how to approach this massive sale. I’ve also honed an eagle eye for the styles / products that usually sell out pretty quickly and I’ve also rounded up what’s on my wish list and that I’ll be eager to see if they’re worth it in person. I’ll be doing a try on this week and I’ll also post it to the blog as well as instagram and my LTK shopping app!

I’ve heard some mixed reviews on the sale this year but overall I’m pleased by the mix. There are definitely some things that I think are missing from the sale (denim, shoes, handbags are lacking) but beauty, dresses, activewear and outerwear make up for it. They’ve done a really good job of curating essentials and pieces that I didn’t know I wanted.

You can see the entire sale here!

Let’s get to some tips and hacks — which are virtually the same thing!🥴

Shop Online vs In Store

I’m probably biased on this one but shopping the sale online is so much easier than go into the store. The sale in store can be pretty overwhelming and I usually find that I can’ t see everything that I came to find and typically no one has much time to really help. Plus, I find that most of the items are better stocked online and there are MORE items online than one store could hold. Just my two cents of course, but online is the way to go, even if you do a buy online / pick up situation.

Turn On In-Stock Notifications

If you use the Nordstrom app, there is a very handy little toggle at the checkout that allows the app to notify you when something you like goes on sale or comes back in stock. If you like something, go ahead and put it in your cart and if it sells out, the app will notify you and you can grab it up! I use this a lot because returns happen, reorders happen and I’ve been able to find my size in sold out styles!

*Hell yeah that’s 16 items in my bag.  I just use it as a holding cell for things I see and like instead of using the wish list, etc I find it easier! You better believe I’ve got carts open all over this world wide web.

Look at the Last Page First

Okay so this one actually is a hack: I know this sounds crazy but when I first looked through the preview I was very underwhelmed. So I decided to see what was on the last page of the women’s clothing section and BOOM, found some things I liked. In fact, I just started shopping in descending order and realized that they have stacked all of their best sellers on the front pages. That’s not a bad thing, but if you are a heavy Nordstrom shopper (raises hand but covers face) then those are probably a lot of items you already have. So give it a shot, start on the 26th page of clothing and work your way back to the front. If anything, you’ll feel like a rebel.

Let Me Shop for You

My whole job is to find the things that I think would make the best investment or addition to or for your closet. I personally can’t go into your closet and see what you want or need, but I have a general idea of what I’m looking for fall so I try to keep my eyes open for you as well. I am NOT here to tell you to buy something just because it’s on sale or tell you it’s life changing and amazing when it’s just a regular t-shirt, etc. But what I can tell you is how something fits, the quality of the fabric, the brand and how it typically holds up, etc. I’m literally a professional shopper and clothing is my love language. I will be doing lots of try ons in stories and of course I’ll post it here as well, but I usually post to Instagram first. If you are into seeing fast try ons, follow me over there.

Another way to shop without a lot of noise us by using the LTK app. Basically, LTK is an influencer curated shopping app, so think if Instagram had shopping links and no drama. I have a ‘store front’ ,if you will, set up and I post all of my try ons there, my blog post outfits, things I wear everyday, etc. I post there A LOT so you can follow me there for updates on the Nordstrom sale and of course anything else I’m wearing on IG / blog, etc. It is all affiliate links so I make a small commission from the sale if you click through there, but it doesn’t cost you a thing (the retailer pays the commission!) and the app is free as well. If you do download it, I’m ‘Kendi Everyday’ and you can search for me there! I upload all of my outfits there as well. It’s like my blog but without all of my long winded stories. 😉

And if you don’t want to download an app, you can always Find my LTK shop page here!

Make a List…

You know when you go into the grocery store all hungry and let the aisles take you where they may and you end up with a lot of deserts but nothing for dinner? That’s basically what you are asking for when you go into this sale without a plan. At least have some general idea of what you are looking for before you start getting hyped up on the emotions of the sale. Looking for some new booties for fall? Perfect. Need some new sneakers or a coat or new leggings? Put it on the list! This way you can drill down to what you actually want instead of starting on page 1 and trying to get through all 300 pages of products and then by the end of that your whole cart will be sold out.

…& Stick to a Budget

Set a budget — micro and macro. Not only a max budget of what you will spend total (macro) but also what you like to spend on specific items. If you like to splurge on a nice coat for winter, then maybe your budget will be $250 for a coat but your max budget is $300. Now you know what is going to be left for you to use, etc. You guys know how a damn budget works, I don’t have to explain it any more. But sometimes money can be the actual deciding factor between two styles and it’s good to know before you go what your limit is. (This is actually why I prefer to shop online, did you know? I like having the cart total to remind me of what I will actually be spending instead of me trying to add it up as I go. Somehow my math between the dressing room and the cash wrap is always wrong and the house always wins.)

Remember Returns

And if you are having trouble deciding on something — REMEMBER: you can always return. I do find that there is always something that I get home with and immediately think ‘but why tho?’ and sometimes you don’t know that until you are home. Home mirrors do not lie, even though I wish they would sometimes. One trick I have when trying to narrow down between a few things, I try to make at least 3-5 outfits in my head with a piece and the items in my closet. If I can’t think of 3-5, the piece is out.

(Oh and be a good human and return something quickly so someone else can snag it on sale!)
