I have a thing with plaid and gingham in the summer. Sometimes I feel like it’s… too much. To me, summer dressing is all about the easy, lightweight pieces and a pattern can feel overwhelming at times. Especially in a maxi dress or skirt situation. And let’s be honest with each other: gingham can look like a picnic tablecloth. So you have to choose the right plaids and ginghams for summer and I personally like more subtle hues when I’m going with patterns. This dress? Oh it’s perfectly subtle with its summer hues and cotton fabric. It feels like just the right amount of color and pattern. I feel like I’m wearing it the pattern, it’s not wearing me, you know?

Oh and since we are being honest with each other…I hated this dress when I first put it on. Like I was so excited for it because it looked amazing on the model and I put it on and felt like 1993 called and she said to keep the dress. I also tried to style it with sneakers and a hat and then 1995 called and told me to stop it. So I put in my return pile and completely wiped her from my memory. As I was packing up my return box, I thought ‘let me give it one more try’, as I can’t let anything go. This time I loved how it looked, I loved the fit and the fabric. I don’t know if I was just in a bad mood the first time or it was a full moon or what, but instantly I loved this dress the second time I put it on. Here’s to second chances.

I am in the medium of this dress and it fits generously. I would say if you need a smaller chest area, size down one! It’s good for me, but there is room in here. Also it is nursing friendly! I know a lot of people ask that and this one is. Find this dress here and be sure to use code KendiEveryday on your purchase of $125+ for $25 off!

I am in the medium of the dress — I find it runs pretty generous! Size down if in between sizes or you want a closer fit up top, it’s the most generous int he chest / length. I am in my typical size for the sandals, TTS.

  1. I have this dress and love it so much! I am so glad you changed your mind about it 🙂 I am wondering though do you find when you lean over the dress opens a lot in the bust area and you can see your bra. Do you wear a tank or anything under it? I am considering have a snap put it but was wondering if you had any good solutions/suggestions!

    1. I think a snap would be the best option, to be honest! I wear a tank bra sometimes (true and co or Neiwai) and that helps cover me up more as well.
