I feel like there are two types of people in the world — those who workout on vacation and those who don’t. Do you workout on vacation? You see, I thought that I would last week. I had really good intentions, you guys. I packed all of my workout gear, I double checked the gym on the map, I brought my water bottle. I mean I even remembered to pack my sports bra, which is truly the cornerstone of any workout. And… did I ever make it to the gym? No. No, I did not. But I did go for walks and we rode bikes and I hauled an almost 4 year old around with one arm most of the trip, so you know what? Maybe I did workout after all. I’m so glad I packed my workout attire anyways. Honestly I love packing athletic wear on vacation because it doubles as great travel wear and active wear. We would go for walks in the morning and I would toss on my favorite Zella shorts and my lightweight Zella tank top. These have to be some of my favorite shorts from Zella and for summer. They are soft, knit shorts (under $50!) that are a really nice length for working out but also just as a pair of casual shorts. It’s like if a jogger was a pair of shorts, it would be this pair here.
I wear a medium in these Zella cotton shorts and they fit true to size. They are slightly more fitted at the hips for me, but overall I’d say true to size. Size up if you want a more relaxed fit at the waist / hips. I’m definitely picking them up in black as well before they sell out. Find them here!
Speaking of my very favorites, Zella is my go-to brand for activewear from Nordstrom. It’s one of their many in-house brands and it’s super high quality at really great prices. Like I feel like Zella is way underrated, people are sleeping on this brand to be honest. Leggings for under $60 that literally last for YEARS. I have some Live-in Leggings that I bought back at Anniversary Sale in 2014 that are still in great condition. I’ve rounded up my favorite pieces from Zella including my go-to sports bra. This is the only sports bra I can run in! (I’m a 34/36D and I wear a medium in their bras.)
Note: As far as sizing in general goes with Zella, I find it runs true to size in each piece. I’m a 6/8 and wear a medium in tops, shorts and leggings almost every time. Rarely am I another size, their sizing is very consistent across the brand. Some things run a bit generous, but overall I’d say it’s a relaxed true to size.

As we drove out of the resort, I noticed the gym for the first time. We silently nodded at each other and said ‘see ya next time.’
*special thanks to Nordstrom for collaborating on this post! Shop all of their line of in-house brands here.

I love all your cornerstones, whether for workout or for moments of indolence like the dozing woman on Pierre Bonnard’s painting masterpiece.
