I’m used to ignoring the first day of fall around here because it’s usually not even close to being fall. But when October rolls around I am throwing in the towel on summer and dressing for fall no matter what the temp is outside. YOLO. Or YOFO — you only fall once. A year. It has a nice ring to it.

The good thing is that I’m pretty darn good at finding things that are “Texas fall” weight, like this canvas cape. It’s more of a chambray type fabric and it is a perfect layer over a tee or a tunic like here. It takes the chill off of a fall morning. Plus I feel like I’m trying to will the weather into submission by just going ahead and wearing my fall things. Like these leather booties — they are certain to beckon the fall weather. (They are under $100 by the way!!) Side note: it has been a journey to try to find cognac leather booties this fall. I finally settled on these and love them — they are better in person than in the photos. Every pair of boots I found were suede, which I love a nice pair of suede boots don’t get me wrong, but a cognac bootie is a classic must-have for fall. I’m so glad I found these! Now if only I could find fall…

Fit Details

The fit on the cape is one size and I’m 5’9″ and typically a medium, for reference.  And I am wearing a different tunic than what I’ve listed but I’ve found a few similar to the left in my links!

Each month I create monthly capsules out of my favorite pieces, perfectly curated for each month.

  1. Do the shoes run TTS? I’m always a size 10 in every shoe but Nordstrom says that these run small and to go a size up? Thx

  2. Absolutely loving the vibe of this canvas cape. It is such a versatile piece for transitioning into fall. And those leather booties are a great find definitely completing the ensemble.
