I wore this outfit to our little Gem’s first month check up and immediately received 2 compliments as soon as the door opened. I didn’t think twice about this outfit when I put it on and threw my hair in a bun. It had been a particularly hard night and I was feeling pretty darn loopy from the lack of sleep. So when you get compliments on your outfit, that breathes new life into a tired momma. And I also knew we had to shoot it. I wasn’t planning on shooting this outfit, but two compliments within 5 minutes? It’s a must.
I LOVE this shirt. It is so soft, you guys. I think I’ve become very obsessed with everything feeling soft because of the baby. Her clothes are like butter so now I’m like everything needs to be soft. And the peplum on this is very strategically placed. Thank you peplum shirts for making it easy for new moms everywhere to get dressed. (Also it’s under $30! Find it here.)
*Since this top is almost sold out, here is a super similar one!
So guess what? These jeans are not maternity jeans and that makes me very happy. They aren’t my old jeans yet — which I have not even tried on. I’ve got a while before I get back to my pre-pregnancy clothes. But there is this craving for normalcy you have after being pregnant for so long, or at least it was there for me. And one of the solutions that I found was getting up and getting ready (see my new mom beauty routine) and getting dressed like my old self and that included regular, non-maternity jeans. Don’t get me wrong, maternity jeans postpartum are essential, but I decided to buy a new pair in a size up from my pre-pregnancy size and guess what? It actually feels really, really nice to wear normal jeans. My advice, if you find yourself in a similar situation, find jeans that run a bit more generous, go mid-rise to high-rise, and look for at least 2% spandex in the jeans. And don’t be afraid to size up. That little number means nothing, it just means it fits. These jeans are Kut from the Kloth, which I know from previous purchases that they run a bit generous and their fabrics are always stretchy but structured and very forgiving. So I took a chance on this pair, sized up and I LOVE them. Who knew that just a pair of regular jeans could make a girl feel so good?
*raises hand* Okay, okay I did.  😉

I have a pair of Kut from the Kloth jeans that have been absolute life-savers in my postpartum world too! I honestly have no idea what I’d be wearing most of the time if I didn’t have them. 🙂
Absolutely love it!
