Pattern Play

It’s been spring like here this week, so I couldn’t help myself with a little pattern play. (Spring always brings out the playfulness of style for me.) As I said yesterday in my January favorites post, I have been loving dresses lately. This plaid dress surprised me, though — it is the softest jersey fabric. Which I am here for 100%. I thought from the looks of it on the model it would be a structured fabric, but a nice jersey was more than welcome. Also, if you are like me you will get this surprise. If you are not like me and are more of a details person, you will notice the sidebar of the product that describes the fabric as JERSEY. I like to live life surprised so I don’t read those details. As soon as I saw this dress in person I knew it was meant to be paired with this striped Kate Spade jacket. You know I love mixing patterns; it’s my favorite pastime.

Also, can we talk about this jacket for a hot second? It’s everything I want in a jacket — striped and sassy. Yep, those are my only two criteria for jacket. Warmth? Who cares. Stripes though? I’ll take it.

(Side note: ok I might care a little about warmth. Luckily, this one is the perfect warmth for mild winter days and spring, of course.)

Fit Details

I sized up in this dress so that I could have a bit more length. It fits just fine! So if length is more of an issue for you, size up for a bit more length but otherwise I’d say it’s pretty true to size. Samesies on this coat — it’s true to size, if not a bit more oversized. Size down for a more true fit!
