I’m sure you’ve heard lately that skinny jeans are on their last leg. (Pun completely and utterly intended.) I, for one, disagree with this report or statement because I consider skinny jeans a new classic that will always have a place in my closet and heart. Which is kind of the same thing. But I am happy to have other shapes to embrace when it comes to pant options, especially a dramatic wide leg. I saw a slight emergence last spring but never really took the plunge because the fits just weren’t right yet. I find that to be true — when a trend first hits the market it takes a season or two to get the fit right. This season, or at least these pants, the fit is perfect. They are just the right amount of mid-waist, the right amount of wide leg and the right amount of length. (I’m 5’9″ and they don’t quite reach the floor. I think an easy tailor on the hem would work perfectly for those under 5’7″.) I at once feel elegant but comfortable. Is this what it’s like to feel like Kate Middleton? I sure hope so.
I’m also very into a bold statement piece that’s actually versatile. These pants work perfectly with a short sleeve sweater (as seen here) but could work with a pop of color top or even a simple tee and flats. A truly versatile piece can go from day to weekend which I feel like these pants can easily do with a change of shoe and top. Are these pants going to convince me to give up my skinny jeans? No. But they are fitting in very nicely next to them in my closet.
(PS: Just a heads up — this sweater is 40% off today only at Ann Taylor!)

Agreed – I don’t think skinny jeans are going anywhere (for me, at least) but I do love the idea of introducing a new silhouette into my wardrobe. These look amazing on you and make your legs look so long!

Those pants are amazing! I love the stripped pattern and wide leg fit. I used to be a skinny jeans type of girl, but I love that this trend is so much more comfy and chic.

Good for you, Kendi! Another realistic post! I finally stopped following another blog b/c every other post was about the demise of skinny jeans, and yet the majority of examples on that very blog were some sort of skinny pant. I will never give up my skinnies.
That being said–it is nice to have options, and you look great in that outfit!
I totally agree (and hope!) that skinny jeans aren’t going anywhere, but I am loving all these gorgeous new options! These look fantastic on you!
