The other day I was talking with my friend about good basics and where to find them. She literally took the words out of my mouth as she said ‘have you seen lou & grey at Loft?’ Had I seen it? Girl, I’d seen it and kept it a secret so that my size doesn’t sell out. But I figure I couldn’t keep it a secret much longer. If you’ve shopped at Loft before, then you will see that this is quite a departure from what they usually have as far as basics go. (But a very good departure. It’s a basics and essentials train and I want a seat.) Admittedly I’m a fair-weather customer there; I go in every few months if I’m in the vicinity of a store. Sometimes I want to buy everything and other times I walk out very empty handed, but since this discovery it makes me want to check back much more often. I mean…

(Also: not to sound cliche, but STRIPES.)
All that to say, basics are having a moment and especially with this line. Not that basics haven’t always been an essential but I feel like they are moving to the forefront lately in style instead of just quietly staying in the background. A crisp white shirt or black pair of pants are not just essentials in a closet but are actually quite chic. Of course, anytime a store can make a white tee chic, I am 100% in. Just thought I’d share my secret before it’s not really a secret any more.

I just bought a few pants and tops from Lou and Grey at LOFT over the past week – totally in love with this line!
I know girl, me too. As I was making this post, I was making a list of everything I wanted to buy. This is not good…
I am totally obsessed with this line too – I already bought a sweater and loose-fitting pants, but just added a drawstring-waist skirt & pair of shorts to my wish list for summer. Everything of theirs is so unbelievably soft & comfortable while still looking chic…love!

I love it all… and the branding. Even the “stock” photos look so appealing! I wish my local store carried it (it doesn’t 🙁 ) But I may try a few things from online – have you found it to be true to size?
I would say maybe slightly on the small side, depending on how you like your clothing to fit. A more fluid fit is trending these days, so I sized up in tops. My regular size small for tops fit, but looked a bit too fitted to me. Pants I usually take a 4 or 6, got the 6 in these.

I love Loft… sometimes. Like you said, it seems like I either want the whole store or I can’t find a single thing, never in-between. But I always adore their maxi dresses for summer and I have really liked what I’ve seen of lou & grey! One of my closet staples is an orange peasant-blouse they did a few years ago and I’m always watching for something similar in a more basic hue.
I’m officially addicted. I’ve always liked LOFT, but I’m in love with Lou & Gray and want to live in my tees from there 24/7.
I have a few Lou & Gray pieces and they are great. Super comfortable and they fit wonderfully. I’m definitely a fan as well.

I’m a fair weather loft shopper as well. I went into their store last weekend after being seriously disappointed with usual go-to, Jcrew, and ended up walking out with a bag full of basics. I bought a lou + grey tee, even though it didn’t fit the 40% off sale that was going off and am in love!! i can tell that it’s going to be a staple all summer long!

I KNOW! It’s perfect! It’s how to be comfortable and casual while still looking chic and awesome.
Those black cropped pants are perfection. I’ve gone in and tried them on twice and I adore them. I’ve decided that basics are to be my new wardrobe choices…always. Classic and timeless.
I love stripes!

After you posted the black roll-sleeve Loft romper I checked it out online, and immediately fell in love with the Lou+Grey chambray romper….definitely purchasing both soon. Rompers are classic when done in black and chambray….right?!
