The other day I was meeting with a vendor for the shop and the rep commented that I must be so clean and organized. At first I thought she was joking and then I realized that she was being serious. In my mind I immediately thought ‘gotcha’ as I slowly nodded my head in agreement. Truth is I am not organized and I’m only remotely clean — the kind of clean that is odorless and will not get the heath department called on you. But I appreciate that for whatever reason she dubbed me as clean and organized. Maybe it was because I had my papers in a file folder. That always reads as organized, I’ve learned. Of course she didn’t realize that I had ALL of my papers in that single, unnamed file folder and none of them correlated. But the illusion of being organized was there and that’s good enough for me.

Speaking of being organized, today I am forcing myself to organize my desk and office at the shop so pants were the best choice for this mission. A friend of mine said that she calls this tying up loose ends, I call this regretting not filing for the last 6 months. Her phrasing is much more catchier than mine.

  5. I get that way whenever people tell me that I always look “so put together.” I feel like I wear some version of the same outfit all…the…time, so to me, I feel more like I cheated and went with what’s easy than, you know, putting any thought into what I’m wearing.

    But I like the compliments nonetheless, so I don’t usually say anything other than “Oh, well, I guess I’ve found a style that works for me,” then chuckle inside my head at the idea. 🙂

  21. I don’t want to say it, but . . . this might be my ultimate favourite outfit you’ve done! (I mean there are so many awesome ones!) I have since been mentally running through all my wardrobe trying to recreate it! But alas, without the awesome jeans? I feel a shopping trip is needed! (not that I needed any convincing!) and denim jackets! who saw that making a stylish comeback!

  48. Ummm… I can TOTALLY relate. As a teacher and aspiring principal, I know I better get my act in gear as far as organization goes. File folders can go a long way in faking organization though… I get the cutesy ones too so it looks like I am organized AND color coded. Those pants are great. Love the print!

I just nod and think to myself – if only they saw my car and the 2000 Starbucks straw wrappers that are stuck into the side pocket of my door. Or the boxes that fill the closet of a spare room filled with my important papers for the past 5 years….Love the jean jacket – I actually just bought the same one.
