No no, you aren’t seeing spots. I am just wearing dots on my top half and my bottom half. Unless you are actually seeing spots, then you should lie down, take two pills of something and call me in the morning. I’m not actually a doctor, but sometimes I like to introduce myself as such. People are always amazed at how young I am to be a doctor.
So dots on dots, your thoughts? Too much? Just right? Does the dot to dot ratio matter? What about the size of the dots in comparison to the other dots? And then there is dot concentration, dot opacity, the coloring of dots. These are the questions that keep me awake at night. That and what’s the meaning of life. But mostly the dot to dot ratio thing. That’s a tough one.
Tonight I’m a bit light on the words. I always run out of words on Mondays. I tweeted earlier tonight that I had blogger’s block (a rare form of writer’s block) and wondered if ice cream would cure it. Well friends, the verdict is — inconclusive. I’ll let you know after a few more pints.

dot to dot ratio seems just about right.
blogger to ice cream ratio is low though. better add a pint or two for the right balance.
I love mixing dots and dots, it makes one spotty! I mean, dotty. Spotty dotty. Hm. Looks like I need to eat some ice cream and lie down, Dr. Kendi.
The dot ratio is perfectly fine, not too much at all. These photos are purely lovely. Are those real bamboo?
Toast with Charmalade
I LOVE polkas!! They are so fun to wear…they just make me smile instantly….the more the better I say…NOT too much, at all:)
You look great!! Fabulous location for pics too!!!

dots on dots are awesome! i love the background today!!
Ice cream is the answer to everything.
Love the photo location, and the outfit!
Ice cream is the answer to every question ever.
I think the polka dots together look beautiful. I especially love how the rich yellow skirt looks with that polka dot top! Good job Kendi!

I love this – I actually donned a spotted top and some dotted tights Friday (and completely forgot to take a picture before I spilled my Route 44 diet cherry coke from Sonic on myself…)!
Adorable! Great pictures too!

One can never have enough dots! I have a similar pair of tights, and now I'm itching to wear them!
Super cute outfit.. love the dots!
Amazing photo location as well!
in my humble opinion, the dots work.
But where do you find a bamboo grove in your neck of the woods?
umm… is that a bamboo field? How amazing! Who knew those existed in Texas?
And I think that your dot to dot ratio is perfect. Two dot patterns of the same size and density would be been a little overwhelming, but because they dots are spaced out on the bottom, I think it works great!
Way to go!

Just right on the dots 🙂
Just enough of the spot love. 🙂 Also love that mustard-y yellow skirt.
Oh my goodness! Super gorgeous pics! Best bamboo + dots photos + blogger's block commentary EVER 😉

Beautiful phtos, incredible background 😀
adorable outfit and fabulous pictures!
Very cute!
I'm a new follower of yours and would love it if you'd take a look at my blog. 🙂
This is similar to my post that I did on Saturday! How funny!

your spot ratio is perfect! I love that J. Crew skirt, I was going to get it, but it didn't fit me well. You look great in it though!
I firmly believe you can never have too many dots 🙂
These photos are gorgeous – I love the scenery!
I love the dots on dots and rock it myself quite often!
you are perfectly dotty! 😀
Haha dot is fine. I don't think I can pull it off though cause I'm more of a stripes girl but that looks nice. I love that you chose to wear a mustard-yellow skirt for a pop of color. You look nice and so are those bamboos 🙂
Love your outfit!
Love the polka dots! In my opinion, you can never have too many. 🙂
at the end of the day all that matters is that you look fabulous as always!!
love the background-those are bamboo arent they? holy HUGE!!

I think the dot on dots looks great! The skirt is lovely – and the location!
what a stunning location to shoot in! The dots are all lovely, you can never have too many dots I say.
As long as their small I'm pro dot on dot action. The bamboo forest is quite lovely too.
I think you've mastered the dot to dot ratio here. Supercute combination.
And that bamboo forest is amazing!!
Love the dots on dots, Kendi! I agree with the comments above, the ratio is just right;) I think blogger's block happens to all of us:) Ice cream is a good way to cure it! hehe

Your posts always have me giggle. The dot to dot ratio here is looking just right. So since you've got the dot to dot ratio right, how about a stripes to stripes ratio? I'm sure you can come up with something fantastic as always:)
you're so funny! I look forward to your blog everyday.
I think you're more apt to pull off the dotted tights because you're long and lean, whereas I might look a bit like a character from the Wizard of Oz. PS: Where were these pictures taken? Sho don't look like Texas…
That location is amazing!! So fun!

I am loving the dots on dots! Especially with the yellow skirt to break them up. This is also a very beautiful setting!

Hmmm I would definitely go for Ben and Jerry's, the kind that has two flavors mixed in. That might cure your blogger's block!
I think you've balanced just the right amount of dots. Also, thanks for fueling my shopping habit because now I MUST have those F21 booties!

Bamboo! I <3 it!
I love it!! This outfit is adorable! And you've made me realize I have nothing with dots on it! Craziness!! I know what my new fashion mission is… Dots and bows. I'm liking bows this season too.
On a side note, that location is beautiful! Is that Texas?? Or did you fly out to China for a bamboo forest shoot? The colors, everything about these pictures is awesome. I am a starting photographer and your husband is now my idol. 🙂 jk… But seriously…
You can pull anything off, your style is so sophisticated and classy. I absolutely adored the colours, too! Dots on dots, in this case, rock!
forget the dots! I'm enchanted by that bamboo forest!
And for the record, I tend to think that Ice Cream fixes most everything.
At first I didn't even realize that your tights had polka dots on them, but now that I see, it's definitely a good dot-to-dot ratio. That's a scientific term, dot-to-dot ratio.
And no worries about the bloggers block. It's pretty common.
The dots on your tights are so subtle that you can hardly see them. I think you accomplished the right balance between your top and bottom! perfect!….I love the booties too!

those dotted leggings!
Wow, where did you take these pictures? I would love to explore a bamboo forest in an adorable outfit like that!
this location is STUNNING!
These photos are amazing! I also love the mustard with the polka dot shirt. This whole outfit is perfection!
love the dots! and the pics are PERFECTION!

dot to dot ratio is spot on!
adore the booties and the location for this shoot too!
adorable!
i wander, i wonder
I find your dot to dot ratio spot on….okay even my own jokes don't amuse me. Bamboo in texas, I'm shocked.
Wearing It On My Sleeves
Dots on dots is a moot point. You always look fab.
HOWEVER………. the photos today are positively magical, ethereal, whimsical. I can't get over how cool they look. It makes me think of Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and you're a hip, fashionable bug.

These dots are pretty much perfect. Love it!
Mad Dress Game
That blogger's block seems to be going around. I haven't tried the ice cream cure. I'm gonna get on that.
I like the polka dot combo. I'd call it perfectly "whimsical."
Kendi, I love the dots! I think I am going to wear this outfit tomorrow to work.. just black tights though (no dot tights, tear).
Let me know the next time you are in Austin, we can go vintage shopping 🙂
did you go to the amazon for this photo shoot? i love the bamboo forest.
Haha, no — no trip to the Amazon. This is actually in someone's backyard. Crazy right? There are actually two places in this tiny Texas town with bamboo, weird and so very random. But I'll take it!
love the black/caramel/black/cognac colour blocking & all the polka dots keep it interesting; i have that skirt in grey & you constantly make me rue not getting it in the burnt sienna, too. but maybe this just means i need to buy coordinating grey booties, yes?
& bravo for wearing tights in this weather. this texan indian summer is killing me. i was promised sweaters and tights and corduroy! sigh.
Dear Kendi,
Sometimes I get sad. Or rather, my closet gets sad. Sometimes it decides that it doesn't want to get with the program. And then I come to your blog. And I see that your closet is with the program EVERY DAY. So I tell my closet to shape up. Cause "dude, Kendi's closet is kicking your trash." And then my closet is awesome again. True story.
xoxo
That last picture is so so lovely! Your lucky you have an amazing photographer!!
i love your necklace! is it from etsy?
the dot to dot ratio seems just about right! and in this outfit they look great (those tights are so cute!). i think the dots could vary in size and still be deemed visually appealing, but i think some separation with a solid (like you've done) is necessary.

Hi Kendi! I'm Heidi… found your awesome blog today through What I Wore. I have to ask!!! Are those the bamboo trees in Austin, TX?! I got so excited when I saw these pictures!
Loved your hair tut, btw. THANK YOU for sharing! ::offtodohairlikeKendi::
Mk, one more comment. I did an awesome independent thing & took a looksie at your 'about' section wherein I found out that you LIVE IN TEXAS!
Now I feel awkward because my ridiculous love for all things Texas is showing. Hehe.
So glad to have found your blog!
