(Shop: top, skirt, necklace)
Jeanna brought up a good point from yesterday’s post via comment. She asked is co-worker approval actually a good thing? If I worked at Lucky Magazine (hi! hire me!), yes. If I work where I work now, meh. I mean look, as I’ve said plenty of times before I could literally get away with anything at work. Halloween costume, jeans, heck I could wear a Snuggie and people would look at me about the same as they did today. It’s actually kind of a nice relief, to not worry about what other people are going to think. Plus I think the array of colored tights from last winter broke them down. Literally — those yellow tights could bring co-workers to their knees.
I bought this shirt on Saturday with my beloved sister and mother in tow. I was standing in line with something completely different when I spotted this shirt from across the way. I dropped what I had, said “hold my place” bolted over, grabbed my size and bought it on the spot. They of course laughed at me saying they’ve never seen any thing like that before. I call it instinct shopping. My mother called it “frantic.”

You look gorgeous! So simple yet elegant and chic. I love that Gap blouse and totally have to check it out now!
so classic. navy and brown is starting to become one of my favorite new combos

So chic! These pieces are so perfect together, and YAY for Jess LC ๐
classic. charming. you.
good call! that blouse is lovely ๐
& i <3 the necklace
Kendi, you never fail to make me laugh. Thank you for that. And I totally do the instinct shopping, thing too!
Haha! I "impulse shop" from the checkout line pretty frequently too. You and I must work in pretty similar offices…I'm constantly surprised at the outfits that coworkers compliment me on! That said, your outfit yesterday was so cute (I still love that chambray top!). I've had my eye on this LOFT skirt for weeks, and I think this post of yours might be the final straw. I'm buying it. ๐
i ONLY shop with my instincts..is there any other way? "want" over "need" seems to always take over when i'm in the vicinity of retail. ๐
I think you alone have made The Gap rich!
I mean "instinct shop"!
I love those those shopping moments.
Kendi, next time you are in Austin I want to show you that I am now wearing a BROWN belt with BLACK pants ala today's outfit. This signifies tremendous growth in my outfit-putting-togethering and I think you would be proud. ๐ Also we could have some margaritas.
So lovely!

LOVE that top! What a great impluse buy
no joke! I've a serious urge to go out and buy the whole outfit. But as much as "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" my pride is going to keep me from doing that. I have been eyeing that shirt and did swear I was going to buy a piece from the current Jess LC collection.
summed up! so adorable!
You look GREAT Kendi…I love polka dots, they always have a way of making me smile:)

I love your outfit!
Beautiful! Sometimes impulse buys turn out to be favorites, and I think this one will!
So much to love about this outfit. So simple and classic! Especially loving the top and the necklace. LOVE the tights post, too. How awkward! You've got a fabulous sense of style. Never let anyone bring you down!
I love the top. Frantic shopping at it's best.
SO cute kendi!! such a cue but classic outfit! And I have a thing for polka dots
Love this outfit! You always find the best pieces at Gap!
Hi!
I've been following your blog for ages, but this is my first comment ๐ I love the brown with the black, it's so unexpected and makes the whole look feel fresh!! Definitely something I will be trying soon!
Yes for polka dots! I forgot I have a skirt from H&M that is polka dots that I must break out now! Thanks so much for the inspiration. You always have the cutest blog pictures. How do you think of new poses or pose without feeling akward? I always feel akward in my blog pictures.

Uh oh, I swore off Gap (too dangerous for my wallet) last week, but this post and your red cords are making me want to go back!
i love the simplicity of this ๐
What a gorgeous outfit! I love the polka-dot top and it's perfectly pair with the navy skirt. The brown belt is the perfect contrast with the navy and what's even better is that it's built into the skirt! I waiting for that skirt to go on sale… ๐
Nice work with your instinct shopping!

I love the way you directly get to the point, inspired
So often I look at your pictures and think "classic Hollywood". Your style is amazing! Eternal and fresh at the same time – I can imagine Marilyn Monroe wearing each and every outfit of yours.
Have you ever thought of going into acting? ๐
This is one of my favorites. You are welcome. I know my opinion matters most.
This is one of your recent best outfits. I LOVE the look.
That shirt is a nice classic piece, I'm sure you will be able to remix the heck out of it!
I love this outfit….so classy! I used to work in a manufacturing plant where people had to wear steel toe shoes. I worked in the office and dressed professionally, but do you think those people gave 2 hoots about what I wore? It is sometimes nice to be noticed by your coworkers for your dressing efforts, no? I least we can tell you how fabulous you look!
This is one of my favorites! And who cares what co-workers think? I work with a bunch of dudes, so I NEVER get any comments on my clothing. I feel ya.
…my mother would call that last Saturday. I did the same thing at LOFT. I literally shoved my pile of clothes at her and said I seeeee something!!!!! haha

I haven't been inspired by Gap lately, but your top is a gem. You are looking marvelous as usual ๐
Kendi i totally want this shirt! i used to work at gap (just left them like 3 weeks ago) and meant to get this shirt with my discount but i didnt, but now i totally need to get it! you look awesome!
I love this outfit! And i'm totally the same -some of my favourite pieces have been grabbed whilst i'm in the checkout!
great choicee! i adore ur new top!
xoxo
frantic? Nah, more like "tantric". Ooooh the thrill of an instinct buy!
I can't tell if it's black or blue and the website doesn't say. Don't hate me okay… but OMG! I cannot imagine paying that for a shirt and/or skirt! I'm a complete cheapo though… Other than that, it's so cute! I always love your style. I wish I was tall like you (I am 4'11" girl…) to make outfits work.
Fifo and Jenni — Of course I don't hate you! You always leave the nicest comments ๐
The skirt is like a heathered black, if that makes sense. I think the way I edited the photos it brings out a blue tint to it. But it is black. My bad, hehe.
Truth be told, I did not buy this skirt full price. I never pay for anything at Loft full-price, they have wayyyy too many sales for that. My mom had a 30% off coupon that she gave me, so voila! I think it ended up being about $50 which I'm cool with since I know it's high quality and I'll wear the heck out of it. Same with the Gap top, I have a Gap card that gives me RIDICULOUS coupons every month, so this shirt is listed for $54 but I had $30 off so it was $24. If you follow sales like a crazy person (me!!) or sign up for incentives you can get things a lot cheaper! And hey — there is nothing wrong with being a cheapo ๐
That belt is further proof that cognac leather goes with everything.
I saw that necklace in the Look book you did. And OH MY GOSH, it is amazing.
I want one pretty bad.
Don't blame you, that top is adorable! I love polka dots! And that necklace is a chic little addition ๐

So well put together and so classical elegant, too. The necklace is the perfetc companion to an already chic ensemble.
Ummm…the Gap called and said they need you to model for them. And they want to be your sponsor. And give you free clothes to wear on your blog.
HELLLO!!! They should be doing this! You look great ๐
Co-workers…the reason why we try to look so good at times! lol…YOU have nothing to worry about, no matter what you put on it looks G.O.O.D! Love the outfit!
The simplicity and chicness of this dress makes me smile (and try to think of how I can recreate it from my closet.) – Katy
I love that Gap blouse! And the skirts and heels makes your legs look endlessly long!
Just Better Together
Adorable navy outfit. Sometimes when I wear something that is a little more fashionable (say…heels with socks) I'm always a little paranoid at work about what co-workers are saying, but then I realize I don't care if I'm happy with it!
I don't know if you read MyEdit's blog, but her outfit post is called "Dotted". It's a different interpretation than yours, but I thought it was interesting!
Ah, I see.. that makes more sense to me now. ๐
Lovely, as always.
So nice! Love the clean lines of this. You look great as usual! ๐

I just found your blog through a blog which was found through another blog, et al. I wanted to drop in and say that not only are you hilarious (really, serious LOL material here) but you have a highly enviable style. Yours is a truly entertaining/inspiring blog. Thanks!
Haha, I'm guilty of darting out of line when I see a potentially great piece as well. You just never know, and I've made some great finds that way. Frantic or instinct, if it works, it works! ๐
Is the belt a part of the skirt? Either way I love it! And the blouse.. Haven't been to Gap in quite a while but stopped there when my mom was in town and I was very pleasantly surprised to see what a good selection of cute blouses they have! Good choice on the one you got. You look lovely, as always!
Kendi,
I could so use your help finding the perfect blouse or cardi for my Leifsdottir Vintage Dots Skirt in Light Blue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I love your blog. You have classic style with modern sophistication. Laura
i do love that top, but $54 for polyester?! geeeez, gap!
Darling outfit! I like the way you shop, lol. I, too, have done that a many times although not all attempts have been met with success.
I love the way you write; it's very engaging. Coupled with a few other blogs, your site has definitely inspired me to start my own. I hope you'll check it out sometime. ๐

haha, when people give me weird comments about my wardrobe (coworkers) i just look down on them and say "You only think that because you know nothing…about fashion."
Just kidding, I keep that in my head.
Ahahaha, the much-maligned yellow tights. I have a pair in the same colour and my mom loathes them. Pffft. What do they know?
Also I totally love this. Super-sweet yet professional. I'm always down for some polka dots.

Love it! Simple but classic and sophisticated!
CLOTHED MUCH, a modest fashion blog
Have you seen how many people have shared your link on facebook? like 170+! wow! also. I'm obsessed with your blog in the least creepy way I hope! Your blog is so adorable and your looks are way different than what I would wear.. but not so different that I don't think I could pull some of them off! Thanks so much for doing this. I'm also a big photography fan so I love seeing the journey of getting back into photography that your husband did – so awesome to see how much the photos have improved since the first ones with the bad lighting! They all look so wonderful and I hope to see more!
also.. I stole some of your photos for a blog post I just did, credited you muchly.

Love the top! Little polka dots are so cute. I'm rocking them today inkinseysclose.blogspot.com
love the look!
Setting up an analog computer needed scale elements to be chosen, along with original conditionsโthat is, starting values. Another vital was creating the needed network of interconnections between computing elements. Sometimes it was needed to re-think the structure of the issue so that the personal computer would function satisfactorily. No variables might be allowed to exceed the computer's limits, and differentiation was to be avoided, usually by rearranging the "network" of interconnects, utilizing integrators in a various sense.
Running an electronic analog pc, assuming a satisfactory setup, started with the computer held with some variables fixed at their original values. Moving a switch released the holds and permitted the issue to run. In some instances, the personal computer could, after a certain operating time interval, repeatedly return to the initial-conditions state to reset the difficulty, and run it again.

Okay, I am guilty of blog back-tracking you caught me. But I have something to say.
I work at the Gap and couldn't WAIT for that top to arrive in the store once I saw it online. I'm seriously in love with it … and have also featured it on my blog. I like what you've done with it here … and with your other post that I already saw but didn't say anything about it. ๐
