That’s right I named this post after a junior high kissing game that I was never invited to play because of my extensive orthodontia and probable bad breath. But it’s cool, I’m friends with all of those guys on facebook now and it turned out for the best. None of them are photographers.
You guys will not believe this but I was dressed just like a man at my work today. He refused to let me take a picture of him, but had he known that I would have splashed it up on the internet for all of the world to see, I guarantee he would have let me. He of course was wearing pants to my skirt, but he was definitely rocking the denim on khaki although I have sneaky feeling that he’s been rocking that look since 1994. His necklace, however, looked new.
I sometimes wonder what my co-workers think about all of my costumes. I rarely get compliments at work, most people just remark that I must be a “heavy shopper.” Granted, I’ve heard worse insults in my life, but I like to think that I”m pretty light-footed when I shop. It’s also not a necessity to dress well at my office. As long as my clothes cover my body parts well and isn’t a safety hazard, I’m in the clear. This outfit passed both of those tests so I’m giving myself a raise. I’m also giving myself the “best dressed employee on the second floor” award.
Good news on the big red tumor, it’s just a lego. It’s plastic so I can still get through airport security.

Kendi you left us hanging. What was the guy wearing for shoes? Did he go with pointy or almond toe pumps?
Honestly I really liked this outfit.

Loving that look, the denim on Khaki is great!

love the denim and brown skirt combo! You look fab as always 🙂
One time this winter I was dressed just like my boss – gray slacks, pink sweater layered over white blouse. My boss is a dude, though, so while I'm all for men wearing pink, I think it was more embarrassing for him than me.
My coworkers often say they never see me wear the same thing twice – I guess I'm proving them wrong with the remix challenge!
I rocked the boy version of this outfit from 4th-9th grade or so. Rough, rough times. Adolescent me needed some Kendi Everyday.
Hahahah, I totally laughed at the lego comment. You're too funny.
You did good with the denim and khaki. I can see a lot of people (i.e. men) donning it and not pulling it off like you!
clothed much, a modest fashion blog
Lovin ur denim on khaki ensemble! Lol ure too funny!

You totally should've snuck a little phone picture of him! That's so funny when things like that happen, and even better when you acknowledge it. And the outfit is adorable! Love the denim on khaki!
Wait, wait- how did you accidentally steal the necklace? I want to hear that story!!
Kendi, such cuteness with this outfit! Love the khaki with the chambray.
I'd give you a best dressed employee outfit anyday!
Diggin' it. Did you point out your matchyness to the man at work? I'm sure he would have been flattered.
People think I'm a "heavy shopper" too….which I may be, but while I shop a lot at least I shop cheap. Besides there are a lot of people out there…probably some of your coworkers…who should beef up their shopping!
for this, i'm kinda grateful i work in a place that has a uniform. but one day when i do move on from minimum-wage-land i'm gonna be nervous to dress up for work. people at school already give me weird looks, but ah well we look good and we feel good so that's all that matters 🙂
and..i want to know the story behind how you "accidentally stole" that necklace! 🙂
Very cute! I wish I could get away with chambray at work! I'm so jealous 🙂
Oh kendi you're too adorable… dying to know how you accidently stole a necklace… and by the way the way my boss used to ask me if i dressed in theme for work everyday… so i get it 🙂
my coworkers seem borderline horrified with my participation in the challenge. I am pretty sure they just think that it will be impossible for me! 🙂 I will strive to prove them wrong.
your outfit is so lovely!
that's hilarious how a man was dressed like you.
your long lost twin!

LOVE this look, it's casual meets corporate.
Superr chic as always 🙂

Kendi, I hear you on the office dress environment! Love the outfit – so cute 🙂

Heart this outfit. You look sweet, demure and professional all at once. Again, I like this colour palette. I might have to use it in one of my next designs! I'm really loving your Old Navy shoes. Can you get them online?
You are hilarious. I love reading your posts!
Also this is a truly inspiring outfit. I constantly struggle with ways to make masculine colors and pieces look feminine. I bet you looked a lot nicer than your co-worker 🙂
My work colleagues have come to expect me to come up with something new every day. In fact, I get comments if I'm not wearing something particularly outrageous or thought out.
I say good on you for being the best dressed on the second floor. While awards are being handed out I'll take one for the fourth floor, thanks.
I haven't seen your second floor, but even so, I second your vote. Haha.
Glad to hear the doctor's appointment went well 😉
And too bad about the guy in the matching outfit! I guess he doesn't know how awesome that is. 😀
I love this outfit. I think you'd win that award as well.
I would have loved to see if his accessories were as cute as yours, Kendi the shoplifter.
Kendi- You already know I love you to pieces!
Kendi Everyday Readers who haven't read about the said stolen necklace, you're welcome! 🙂
irish coffee as in coffee with wiskey?
I love that look, I've been following your (and others) remix challange and am loving what you are coming up with each day xx
Love the outfit! I love how a khaki pencil skirt makes an outfit look instantly crisp.
My coworkers make comments like that to me, too…more like…oh, is that new? Like everytime they see me wear anything. No. I haven't shopped in months. These shoes are 3 years old. Thanks.
They're just jealous you look cuter than them.
Love the look! And the story of the necklace!

oh dear this is such a cute outfit! love it! you just gave me a great idea to find my boyfriend a denim shirt!
Oh man, I wish you had the picture of the male co-worker. Would have been priceless. There's an idea: compliment every outfit with a male matching counterpart; I'm sure your husband would love to play dressup. Haha.
Cute outfit, anyways!

What are you going to do when you get to eleven? 🙁
I love this outfit! I am dreading having to dress a bit formal to work. This outfit post makes it seem not so bad. Thanks.
Anthea,

Cute & simple. I bet you'd be best dressed in most offices.
You crack me up… I always love reading your posts. so witty! I love this outfit… simple, timeless and chic!
I'm gonna need to know the necklace story…
Love the 'fit!! You are super cute!
I never got asked to play that game either. Hrumph.
You look very ladylike today, m'dear. Modern lady, that is.
Love your stolen goods! It's a fun punch of metallic color against the soft sophistication of the rest of the outift. Nice!

I love this look, it is like a lovely, yet deviously paradox, so elegant yet comfortable. Your post cracked me up too, you described my office so well, world is not unique that way, isn't it? oh and not unique in this way too, if I was to come up with a title for my youthful years when everyone around me was playing "the bottle" kissing game, I would use "Never been kissed"… now happily married 🙂 thanks for brightening up my day! I love your looks and your posts! awesome sense of humor and reality too 🙂
Ooh, I like this. Makes me want to dress up my chambray shirt! You're doing an awesome job with the challenge.
Love this look! Never would have placed denim with khaki, but you look absolutely great! So… I think I may have to steal this idea from you. 🙂
I have a few items that I accidentally stole from the retail store I worked at in college to. I'm just saying 🙂
I usually find khaki and denim boring together but this is fantastic. You're co-worker is just an early adopter! Or a hopeless clinger to the past. I'm not sure which.
Your version however, is spot on. Love!
Great outfit – I love your look.
One of my colleagues today said he was disappointed with my outfit because it wasn't weird enough. Must try harder.
I have the same GAP button up and never thought to wear it this way… looks great! 😀
Might have to do this one myself – I have very similar items in my 30!
Every once in a while some of my work friends tell me I look cute. Most of the time they don't say anything. Other people say I'm too dressed up for my office. I'm pretty sure they all think I'm superficial and kind of dumb because I try to look cute. Hooray!
I love your blog!!!!
Love this look, and your story reminds me of the time I was wearing a similar outfit and one of my (male) students was wearing the matching outfit (with pants). He told me I was dressed like a man. Silly kids….
Ahhh, I love these sorts of challenges! Maybe I'll finally decide to start my own blog just so I can post photos. 😀
Cute+simple=LOVE.
Congratulations on the pretend raise and award, both very much deserved 😉
I quite like the classic simplicity to this outfit xo
"heavy shopper" is the worst! *groooooan*
I love the colour combination here.
i love this look! and you have legs for days, *jealous*
I wanna see the Kendi man-twin!!
Seriously, though, love this.
I totally wore a denim shirt with a pencil skirt this week. I'm proud to say I did it all by myself. (didn't see your look!) But you rocked it better as always. 🙂
Another great outfit! But I have a question: when u wear the skinny belts over skirts with no belt loops, does the belt move around on you, like it does for me? My belt buckle would find it's way to my side or back or ride up. I've tried tightening the belt, but that just gets painful.
This post has inspired me to go find an old American Eagle Outfitters denim shirt from my college days that has to be packed away somewhere. It probably won't look as cute as yours does, but maybe I can fake it! Great outfit – you accessorized it perfectly!
