THANK YOU x 10000000000 to you all for the advice, kind words, encouragement on Friday. I would hug and kiss you all if I could. You all should be motivational coaches, but just for me. That way I don’t have any competition in the dreams coming true category of life.* Also, I don’t pay well, just in hugs and cookies.
Does anyone remember the band “Vertical Horizon”? You know…he’s everything you want, he’s everything you need, he’s everything inside of you that you wish you could be…
Oh the cries of my 10th grade soul. That makes me want to write a poem about a boy who doesn’t answer my elevety-thousand phone calls, entitled “Why Won’t You Answer My Phone Calls, Boyfriend?” I think we are still together actually since he never called me back nor broke up with me.
All that to say, I’m wearing horizontal stripes on top, vertical stripes on the bottom. So very crazy of me, right? Well so is secretly dating someone for 10 years and then showing up at their wedding asking for a divorce since we’re common law married.*
*I’m kidding. Or am I?
(PS my shoes are $10 at Old Navy right now! Find them here.)

I will except your offer to pay in cookies, haha, na kidding…
The idea of mixing vertical with horizontal stripes does sound quite crazy, but the fact that the stripes on your skirt are subtle really makes this outfit work.
Love the outfit and I totally had that song playing in my head from the moment I read your blog post title. Ha.
Love the stripes on stripes!
I love the mixing of the stripes! you look so great.
Thanks for the tip on the shoes, they have offically been added to "my cart" 🙂
Love the stripes on stripes – you rock the look and look super adorable!
You are a rule breaker!
P.S. I've had so much fun catching up on your blog the last month, and I for one would be thrilled for another 30/30 challenge!
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat!! I have that same skirt from Anthro and love it!! Looks great mispaired with the horizontal stripes.
I'm loving this look! Such a cute outfit! The question is…are the shoes comfortable?
You look as adorable as always! vertical horizon was my absolute favourite in high school! You are the only other person I know that had even heard of them haha.

Hahahha, I TOTALLY know Vertical Horizon–don't know any of their songs other than the one you quoted, but that's okay. 😉
Great stripe mix here!
And the third photo from the top is breathtaking, Kendi!
Love the contrasting stripes! I'll take cookies!

My 10th grade boyfriend never actually broke up with me, either. What made it truly special was that we sat next to each other because of our last names during most classes all through the next two years of high school. So nice to have a bond with someone where you don't have to talk, you can just….be, you know?
Oooh, I really like this set of photos. The color quality reminds me of some photos I've seen in lookbooks for really adorable clothing brands lately. :} It's just a very cute outfit! Simple and all the pieces seem very versatile but go very well together here.
That's kind of funny about what you said about how you're probably still dating that guy since you never officially broke up! good luck with that! lol 😉
I like stripes.
So anytime ya have on stripes, think of me, the stripes-fan.
And that's the last time I post under the influence of cold meds. Thanks and good night.
Vertical Horizon is awesome. Reminds me of taking the bus in the morning before the sun came up.
I LOVE your outfit!! You're rocking the stripes! It works so well because the fit and silhouette are super-flattering, and one set of stripes is clearly dominant over the other.
Your legs are beautiful! I love that you're showing them off. Plus, the skirt and belt at the natural waist line make your legs look even longer.
Gorgeous!
Love,

Great outfit! I used to love that song from "Vertical Horizon" 🙂
My last boyfriend and I never broke up, we just moved to different states and stopped talking when I found out he was dating his ex and me at the same time. He's getting married this summer, what does that mean?
And yes, I remember Vertical Horizon, and when I saw this blog title, they are immediately who I thought of.
I love this look on you! Will definitely borrow the inspiration idea :).
I have a giveway coming up that you might be interested in. Hope you will visit my blog soon 🙂
I totally love that song, I think it's on my Ipod or on one of many mixed cds in my car.
I've been debating about getting these shoes in pink. Are they comfy?
Ah, yes, Vertical Horizon. That song in particular used to play often for me.
I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better!
I was reading that thing you wrote to your dad and my dad was there so I read it to him too, and he liked it!

Hi Kendi, I am Style Underdog's daughter. You are my idol, next to my mom. I love how you dress. You are just too dang cute!
LOVE this outfit! Now why is that if I wore horizontal and vertical stripes together I'd look like a crazy person – and yet when you do it you look incredibly chic and creative. Super impressive Kendi!
