You guys I got so excited about my outfit yesterday that I totally forgot about this outfit from this weekend’s date night. When I opened up my computer, these pictures were just sitting there asking if they were chopped liver. I assured them they were not and here we are. So how long before you guys leave me citing that my personification of inanimate objects got annoying? Well, till then my closet says hello.
You know what’s fun? Dressing up for date night even though you have nowhere special to go. Well we went to Chili’s and Blockbuster, so I guess we had somewhere to go. Chili’s was probably the most popular place in town on Sunday. We definitely felt like socialites, let me tell you. We had to fight through the paparazzi just to get to our booth. My wrist was so tired from signing autographs and handing out head shots. Just kidding. There were like 15 people in the whole place and we got the one-over and a few eye brow raises since we weren’t wearing Dallas Cowboy jerseys and cut off shorts. No waves, no pics, no autographs. But we did get carded and asked if the dinner would be together or separate. A question we’ve been plagued with since the dawn of our relationship. (We pay together, by the way.)
It’s still fun though — dressing up for no reason. In fact, one time my husband and I were at lunch when someone asked what we were so dressed up for. “You guys headed to a funeral?” We said “close, just heading back to work.”
Oh and if you were wondering, here are the first 10 outfits from my 30 for 30 project. So far, so good. Here’s to the next ten…and the next.

Gorgeous as always! I like how you mixed black and blue, and that little clutch? Adorable!
LOVE it with the trecnh and those shoes!
its funny how people assume you are going somewhere special just if you dress nice. can't a person dress nice just because they want to? also, love the variations in the outfits!!
Kendi! I just found your blog a week or two ago and am feeling so inspired! You have opened my eyes to a whole new world! fashion blogs.. who knew? Thanks!
That is the coolest place for pics!
I hate when waiters ask if were paying separate or together. My husband always gets insulted. One time he said, "do they think I'm not good enough to be with you or something". I'm mean, we're holding hands at the table and everything. I guess if we start making out at dinner they'll get the hint LOL…that would be gross though.
And I am loving your outfits. I kinda want to try something like this and remix the same things over and over. Do you think it cuts down on the time it takes to get dressed in the morning?
HA! Loving that Chili's recap. Hilarious.
Wow! You're actually doing this challenge very well, I'm inspired!
Nice new layout! I miss the pink tights, though…!
Hi Kendi
Gotta say – I love your blog. Not only are you a great model of fabulous outfits, but you can write.
I really like the way you tell stories.
I'll visit again soon

You can personify your inanimate objects all you want, and I'm not just saying that because I do it too….
I love the shoes and trench with this!
Adore the wedges and skirt 🙂 I've just discovered your blog and have added you straight to my google reader!
hmmm you are in texas, right? i think it's weird for small town texans to be asking about paying separate or together … it seems oddly progressive if you think about it, lol.
I love your "date night" outfit!! My hubs and I are doing dinner and a movie this Friday night so I may be using you as my muse:) Stop by my blog if you get a chance today…just posted a giveaway!

I love that you dress us to go to chili's
and I love what you've done with your blog updates! looks great 🙂
I love this 30 day challenge you are doing. It is so inspiring. It makes me want to go and create a bunch of new outfits out of the clothes I already have.
I love hearing about your date nights! Such a great thing in marriage, to still schedule a regular night to "date" each other.
You look darling in the skirt–and love the backdrop!
Sooo cute! I love this skirt on you! 🙂
you're so pretty! 🙂
love everything about this!!
also loved your "about me" section! hilarious ((:

Love this spot for pictures!
I wonder why they would ask if you were separate? I only get asked that if I'm with my obviously younger brother, or with a female friend. If I'm with a guy around my age (who isn't my boyfriend) I have to go out of my way to tell them it's separate before they ring us up.
You're on the featured page of Weardrobe!!!!!!! Congrats!! love the blog!!!
Lol, loved the comment about work :). And also am in love with these pictures – your husband outdid himself here – the yellow stripes, red railing, and your outfit make them more like pieces of art! Watch out Grace Coddington and Vogue – Kendi's on her way.
I agree–lovely photo! I really like the play of primary colors throughout. And those wedges are to die for.

hooray date nights!
i love the lighting you get in that garage. what a fantastic place for pictures. i feel so self consious trying to find places to take portraits. there is a new park with all these random umbrella sculptures on my walk to work. i'll try it out this week perhaps!

It's funny how you guys get asked if you want to split the check. Here, when I go out with my guy roommate, they automatically assume (and you know what they say about people who assume…) we're together and don't split the check, then when we ask them to they get all upset.
Congrats on the 30 for 30 project! Especially seeing them all collage together, it doesn't even look like all the same pieces.
I love your date night look! It's so chic and fun – it makes me wish my trench was a tan colored…I opted for a rich fuchsia (to cheer me up on a rainy day) which I love..but I may have to get a second… 🙂
Loving the 30 day challenge!
Your outfit is so chic! You are doing a great job with you challenge, I don't think I could last two weeks!
Isn't dressing up lovely once in awhile? Not dressing up because you have to, but because you want to! It makes all those monotonous little things so much better :]
love the blousy tank with the skirt girl!

Your blog looks fantastic! And I am so impressed that you've stuck with the 30 for 30! It's fun to see what combo you will come up with next.
Your trench coat has so much personality.
It gives your look a whole different feel when it's on, and it even dresses up that post it's laying on in the first photo.
What a stylish part of a parking structure.
Kendi, I love reading your posts. Not only do you have great style, and gorgeous outfits, but you're a delightful writer, and I always end up laughing or smiling at the end of each post. This one was no different.
You look beautiful!
love the setting of this shoot! very interesting.
