I feel like January brings about a feeling of new for me. November and December is always such a rush and I never feel like I can catch my breath. Then January comes and slows down just when I need it to. (Maybe this is the same for everyone? I don’t want to assume January is just for me.) I start cleaning out, I start getting a fresh look at my closet and I start loving the classic pieces and basics again. Basics in your closet are the true winners because they can last for years and they never tire of being paired with different pieces. As I’m slowly, slowly, slowly cleaning out my closet (like Marie Kondo will turn 50 before I am finished), I realized something missing in my closet was a nice menswear-inspired black blazer. Not a fitted blazer, but more of this oversized look I’ve been seeing. I started shopping online for one and the one I kept coming back to was this Madeliene Blazer from Anine Bing. (Have you heard of her? I love, love her simple style. Here is her Instagram!) It’s DEFINITELY an investment piece but I’ve always admired her and her brand and it was the one I just kept coming back to. I am happy to say I used the last of my Christmas gift cards on this lovely blazer and I couldn’t be more excited. Also, those gift cards lasted until January 20th. That’s a new record for me. 😉 Side note: Bryan, on the other hand, can hold on to gift cards for YEARS. It’s an amazing accomplishment.
This is the Anine Bing Madeleine Blazer, I bought it from Shopbop because of #primeshipping but you can also find it on her site as well. It fits true to size. I am in the medium. I love the oversized look though, it’s a classic menswear feel and looks like an updated take on a blazer. In my searchings for the perfect menswear blazer, I found lots of other great options! I’ve linked them below. I did want to call out this LOFT blazer which is 40% off through today! I love the gold buttons on this one!
This blazer paired perfectly with one of my favorite tops from the shop right now! It’s a slouchy top but it works so well with a more tailored jacket and jean. You can find this top here! PS — thank you to Shari for letting me know the link didn’t work! I’ve updated it now! 🙂 Found here: http://bit.ly/2UgPXXI

Love this outfit! Something I could totally wear to work. When you click the link to the t-shirt, it goes to another website-not the shop.
