I was talking to one of my friends the other day about how I’d abandoned dry shampoo. I still carry it with me when I travel because let’s be honest no one can really abandon dry shampoo, but for the most part I don’t use it much these days. It might be because my hair is longer and I don’t need the texture like I did with shorter hair. But while I’ve moved on from the dry shampoo, I have been looking for something to give me just a little bit more volume — not necessarily texture but pure volume.
My search was coming up empty until I found this — Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast. It’s more of a hairspray than a dry shampoo from what I can tell but less sticky than an actual hairspray. It’s like if hairspray and dry shampoo got together and had a better version of themselves. That’s what this is. I actually didn’t believe it would work as well as the Facebook ad I saw that sold me on it said it would. But you guys. IT DOES.

This, below, is my normal hair once I straighten it with a straightener. It’s smooth and shiny but because of my fine texture, it falls flat within minutes.

I now present to you Exhibit C: The after.
Look at that volume and texture. I am not even kidding you guys, this stuff is my new best friend. I did not think this would work to be honest, but I sprayed as directed and didn’t do a thing else to my hair and it stays like this almost all day. So if you’ve noticed I’ve worn my hair straight lately, it’s thanks to this spray. It gives me volume and texture so my straight hair isn’t flat and stringy. God bless the scientist who think this stuff up.

Do you use any product on your damp hair before blow-drying and before using the flat iron? I think your straight hair is gorgeous! My hair is naturally curly and is difficult for me to get straight on my own. I request this straight style frequently when visiting my hairstylist since I pretty much suck at doing it myself.
Would you mind telling me what product you use before blow drying? And after blow drying, do you use a product before you flat iron? Thank you!
Hi! So I just use a hair oil on my ends before I blow dry. Sometimes I use a volume spray, too. Both are Davines brand — Oi Oil and Volu Spray. But there are so many hair oils out there now you can find what you like! I feel like it keeps my ends protected and hydrated. I don’t use a product before flat ironing actually. I have before, but it felt like it weighed down my fine hair. I know they make protectant sprays now — so I probably should — but I just keep my products to a minimum. Hope this helps!
