Summer Knits

If I had to pick a summer travel outfit, I think it might be this one. Soft knit shorts but the tailoring is *chef’s kiss* and paired with this sweater — a cue I took directly from Varley’s styling — elevates it even more. The top really is less ‘sweater’ and more ‘loose knit’ as it’s pretty hole-y. Probably, if you were close and creepy enough you could see an outline of my bra. But not so much that you can see it in photos and most importantly you cannot see my belly button. This is how I judge most sheerness, by the way, I just give it the ol’ belly button test. (This top passed!)

Have you tried the brand Varley yet? I’m pretty sure they aren’t new, they’ve been around for a bit. I’ve bought a sweatshirt and a sweater from them (and subsequently sold both pieces it in my pre-loved shop) but I loved both of them, just the sizing was off for me. If you are new to the brand, it is a mix of leisure and athletic wear; a rich mom aesthetic with an ‘I play tennis’ undertone. I am neither of those things, but I do love to play dress up and I would absolutely challenge someone to a game on the courts and never show up. I really love their mix of knits + athletic wear, too. I’m going to be folding this into my personality this summer, I can tell.

As far as sizing goes, best I can tell across the board is that I am a large. The sweater I’m wearing here runs a bit looser, but I am in the large and I like the fit. The shorts are more fitted at the waist, but overall a size large is perfect for me. I’d say with a rounder waist, size 8-10 is nice for a size large. Now per usual, things can change throughout a brand but if I was a betting man I’d say I’d be most comfortable in most of their TTS pieces as a large. If anything says runs big, I may size down one but I prefer a touch looser over a touch tighter. If you are new to the brand, I hope this helps with sizing. As far as quality, high quality pieces that wash out well, too. Now I do not dry nice things, so this is one of those sets I’d wash on cold, delicate and lay flat to dry. I swear if you do this your clothing will last forever.
