Hey cupcakes, how was your weekend?
Okay now on to mine. We met our bff’s in Austin for brunch + cupcake time. Cupcake time is that special time between lunch and dinner when you aren’t hungry, but you’re not quite full. The best way to cure this intolerable feeling is to eat cupcakes filled with sugar, butter and cream cheese icing. Seriously, this is the only cure.
Tomorrow is the end of AcademiChic’s “Dress Your Best” week and I’m sad to see it go. I might just dress my best everyday. Wouldn’t that be something? Slight sarcasm aside, I wanted to showcase my legs today, which are probably a favorite feature of mine. Sadly I can not say that they’ve carried me through a marathon, or a long bike ride or a nice hike. No I don’t force my legs to do anything they don’t want to do (see: Cupcakes) Instead my legs have wobbled their way through on many different surfaces in heels, platforms, boots and uncomfortable flats without ever failing me. They’ve been there through every concert, lifting me up as I tower over the shorties to see the show, ignoring those who yell “Hey ladder legs, down in front!” They have held me up through waitressing shifts and 9-hour days working retail. And they have somehow stayed thin and kept their shape even though I spend more time sitting at my desk than walking on a treadmill. My legs are amazing. I want to be my legs when I grow up.
Thanks for sharing your favorite parts as well! I loved reading what you had to say. And I was able to stop hyperventilating about my vanity issues and eat another cupcake. Here’s to emotional eating and self esteem. Cheers.

What's funny is I started reading your blog during your 30 in 30 challenge – now every new post gives me the impression you have new clothes đŸ™‚
I'm still amazed at the location in your photos. How do you come up with these places !?!
Is your thrifting becoming more frequent? It seems so…golf claps.
More golf claps for your stems that walk everywhere…we can be clothing/walking soul sisters (yeah, not such a catchy name at all…)
Such a cute backdrop.. great gams too. xo – karrie

omg those pictures are adorable! Aw I love that idea of featuring your best feature what a great thing to spread! Loving your body!
Oooh what a great outfit – I love the colour mixture!
I really love how much of your wardrobe is from the Gap. I have always found such great things there but I hadn't found anyone else who liked shopping there.
Anyways, another adorable outfit. I'm always just so impressed!
Melisa
Yum Cupcakes.
Love the outfit, the colour scheme in particular, the pastel colours are just so nice together.
Great flats!
And love the shape of your skirt!
My weekend was crappy because the weather was soooo awful (raining cats and dogs).. But it at least ended nicely with a nice dinner with my bf and our friends at a Mexican restaurant! đŸ™‚
next time you come into Austin for cupcakes, you should try Sugar Mama's Bakeshop on s. 1st. So good and tons of different flavors to choose from.
Cupcakes are my favorite, so yummy and delicious! The outfit is fab and the shape of the skirt is so much fun.
Love the top! Great thrift find!
The cupcake truck!! I was so excited to see the cupcake truck when I was in Austin for SXSW, but I was too full of bbq and beer to try them. However, I did eat a belated birthday cupcake for dinner last night, so I'm down with the cupcakes…
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like there should be a special time for eating cupcakes!
I had a moment yesterday when I put on a shorter skirt and heels {which isn't normal for me — usually I stick to flats in order to remain shorter than my husband} and looked in the mirror and thought, "Dang! My legs look looong!" It was awesome, but then I changed because I was going to church and I thought that maybe people shouldn't be looking at my legs and thinking about how long and sexy they are during church. I wish I had the guts to just go with it like you.
Looks great – I love that shape of skirt!
I also love a cupcake truck – hello sweets on wheels!!
Hmm..I'm gonna have to incorporate "cupcake" time in my meal schedule. I knew I was missing a meal somewhere. I've been mistakingly using cupcake time for 5 pieces of fried chicken with a strawberry drink and fries time! How foolish of me!
See, your blog also has nutritional value too!
Love the photos!
Love today's outfit and the post. You do, in fact, have great legs. I also love the chambray shirt with that mustardy skirt. đŸ™‚

HOW did I live in Austin for a year and not experience the cupcake truck? I feel sad now because I love cupcakes.
Very cute outfit, too. Perfect chic weekend wear.

Such a great location! And I really like your top!

Kendi you are so great, especially for tackling an issue like our girly body image insecurities and putting a positive spin on it!
You DO have great legs and this adorable outfit definitely showcases them!

I always wondered what that time of day was called! Great look, you make even neutrals look fun!
I love the colors in your outfit and the cupcake truck in the background adds so much fun and whimsy to your pictures!

Cupcakes on wheels?! Wow what could be better. I love this Dress Your Best week stuff. Your outfit is lovely. I love those flats!
Cute outfit! I've tried all of the cupcake shops in Austin and Hey Cupcake is definitely the best. Even better, there is one right near my work and they give free samples. They have a new flavor, Sweet Berry, coming out this week and it is delicious!
I stumbled across your blog last week and I must say your outfits are wonderful! As an Austinite I'm so happy to see you reppin' Hey Cupcake! My favorite is the Michael Jackson cupcake. mm.
i love the airstream in the background! so fun and 50s looking. anyway, you look adorable. love this skirt and the chambray shirt. and hey, it doesn't matter if your legs have carried you through a marathon (they hate you for it anyway) or not, they are still fabulous!
What do I have to do to get that cupcake truck to make rounds in my neighborhood at least once a day?!
This is soooo cute. Love your shoes!
I think….This outfit is indeed nice and fresh…It made your legs stand out, look slimmer and long…
But..I hope you don't mind…
Actually I just don't like 1 thing about your outfit…It doesn't really make your waist look slim..
Cause, I have the same problem as you..I know it's hard…
The colour combination and flats and belt and hair and clothes all nice!
It's just the waist…I don't know why..Kind of make you look plummer than you really are…
It's harsh I know..I just give you some comments…So…You'll know what to do next time…
All the best..Thx!! =)
