I don’t know why but I always feel the need to apologize if I haven’t posted much on my blog. It’s like saying sorry to a friend because you missed a lunch date on accident. These last two weeks have been a blur; things have moved so fast I’m struggling to remember the day of the week when I wake up. Yesterday I woke up trying to convince myself it wasn’t Thursday, but by the world’s calculations and standards, it certainly wasn’t Wednesday. No amount of bargaining can give you more hours in the day, I’ve tried.
B and I have been finalizing new job descriptions for the shop this week. It’s weird being a boss of your own business — you literally create jobs out of thin air. Well not complete thin air, I mean we’ve been doing this for a couple of years now so we know the ins-and-outs and needs of our business. We are finally at a place where we can see the big picture instead of the small frames we see every day. I mean, it’s not like we created a position for someone to just go get us coffee all day. But we could.
But it is one of those weeks where you just have to get everything done all at once. I’ve been so lame on instagram, too. Every time I think ‘oh! I should insta something‘ I look around at my current surroundings of pieces of paper with illegible handwritten notes, multiple half-drank, melted iced coffees, and my computer who I’m pretty sure is starting to resent me because I never turn her off. This is not what pretty instagrams are made of, my friends.
And you know when you get busy you just don’t really care what your hair or outfit looks like? That is this week. I keep telling myself, ‘Kendi, you write a style blog, get yourself together.‘ So today I listened and got myself an outfit together. Not sure if these are bears or cows on my dress, but it’s at least something at resembles an outfit so we will just go with it.

I’ve been rocking a purple and pink Ann Taylor LOFT cat-print dress in the same shape for months with no idea how to wear it in the summer. In the chilly months, it was too cute was black tights and black boots, but what now? Heels and a belt? It looked forced, and somehow upped the juvenile factor of wearing cats. But a tote and bright flats? Perfect.
